We Need To Make Gylfi Decisions Quickly 20th Jul 2017 20:18
The Swans need to bring the Gylfi to Everton saga to a close as soon as is feasibly possible as the playing hardball could eventually come back and hurt us if we don't conclude it very soon. 0

His heads up his arse right now thinking he was on his way to the toffees ,we don't want to sell him hence the massive price tag .It now seems to have put the toffees on the back foot. It's now looking more and more likely he'll still be JB at the start of the season .I wonder if he'll have a tantrum if the move falls on it's arse

He doesn't seem the type to throw his toys out of the pram, plus Tatey also confirmed he isn't that way inclined. If he stays he will be professional and buckle down to the task.

We don't, Everton do.

We should give them until Monday to cough up the £50m, then the price goes up £5m and will keep going up by £5m as each week passes until the end of the window.

If they don't cough up by Monday tell Gylfi it would appear Everton don't want him and he'd better join the squad with a positive attitude on Tuesday morning...although of course if Everton meet our new valuation at any point we will consider it.

If he either refuses or tries to be disruptive you fine him a weeks wages...and so on.

He could park his career if he likes.

I suspect he will roll up his sleeves and get on with it.

Everton and the rest of the Premier League will have learned a long overdue lesson re: taking Swansea City for a ride.

And the posts were in English...

"Wales Online are sensationalising a headline with a belief that Sigurdsson can say when Paul Clement really gave nothing away of the sort just saying that a quick resolution is needed which is right in line with my belief that it is what should happen."

Swansea's accounts year end is 31st July. If he is sold before the end of the month his profit goes into those accounts and there is possible Corporation Tax payable of up to £10m, which would be due for payment on the 1st May 2018.
If his sale is delayed until August the profit goes into the accounts for the year ended 31July 2018, on which the Corporation tax is payable on the 1st May 2019.
Cash flow is a major factor therefore.Gylfi knows he is going but is in no mans land for a bit longer until the deal is announced in August.

Unusual for fees that large to be paid up front. Accountants can manipulate figures.

I agree accountants can manipulate figures. The money men at the club will be pouring over the accounts to see how much profit we have made this season then adding on last seasons loss to set against our tax bill.

Corporation tax is paid on the profit made regardless of whether the money has been received in full or not.If Gylfi is sold for say ££45m now then his written down value in the accounts is likely to be no more than £5m.That is a profit of £40m to be added to this year's accounts. One hell of a chunk,on which Additional Corporation tax could be payable of £8m by the 1st May next year.
If the deal is signed on the 1st August then the profit is included in next years accounts. This gives time to offset that profit with a year's amortisation on next year's player purchases, or even with management charges next year, besides delaying Corporation Tax for a whole year.

Corks sale is balanced out by the Mesa purchase.

Until the early part of August.Gylfi has probably been told that he is going, but that the deal won't be completed and officially announced until August.so it is no wonder his head is in a bit of a spin.He cannot be criticised for the delay, neither in a way can the club, because it is obviously good business and cash flow sense to delay.

It still involves earlier payment of Corporation Tax, albeit on a smaller (but still significant) incoming figure.

Its nothing to do with balancing, its to do with earlier payment of Corporation Tax (to the Government) on incoming money. The club don't receive Corporation Tax for buying players!
