I understand what you're saying. But if there's not a two state solution the Palestinians are still going to be there, next door, and still a threat to Israel.
But I would imagine they will continue to be more of a threat the longer the situation continues. How many young Palestinians are being turned into future Hamas soldiers because they feel (rightly imo) that they have no future as things stand. They have very little control of how their lives will turn out.
Then there's the West Bank. Israel have been settling large areas of the West Bank for the last fifty years against International law. The UN has tried to force Israel to stop for those last fifty years but their resolutions have been vetoed by the US every time.
