If it is just as a game changer for 10 or 15 minutes at the end of a game Dan James could do just as good a job as Montero.
Montero did little defending and when he lost the ball generally just watched it go.
James can cross a ball very well, better than any of our present wingers, he is also probably quicker as well, but I doubt if he will ever get a chance to show what he can do in the first team.
I do not say he is a "starter", but as a late impact sub he couldn't do any worse than Routledge or Montero.

It was a problem with his game. Guidolin recognised it and there was school of thought on here that his game was improving under him after failing to get a first team spot for a while.
Can't do the link here but take a look at his 2016 game at home to Man Utd. Struggled attacking at times , mainly because we were not releasing him early enough, but made a fist it nevertheless. This coupled with lots of back tracking and tackling.
If he has a good injury free season on loan I hope Curt keeps close tabs on him and we take another look next season if the performances warrant it of course.

His injury problems may be a lot better in a warmer climate.
But bring him back to the cold & damp here may bring them all on again, so if he plays well it might be better to get a decent price for him and invest in someone not quite so injury prone.

Possible of course or he may just have been unlucky. If he came back after a good season and broke down again then selling would be the only option.

His injuries are more mental than physical. Maybe he'll do better in a softer league but it's not like he hasn't failed in Spain before.

To answer an often asked question, this is what Clement does with a fully fit Montero. It's remarkably similar to what he did with a fully fit Barrow. He knows what he is doing.

After what Clem has been used to coaching, some of our players must look to him like Pendine donkeys.
