Swansea City have lost one of its most distinguished club servants, with the sombre news that Reg Pike has passed away.

A veteran of the the club for over 20 years, Mr Pike has served this club well and with a warmth and stature that made the man. His unwavering support of the club and the city have been nothing short of exemplary. Retiring from his service to the club last season, Mr Pike aged 87, was always the first point of contact for young mascots, and fans from all over the world.

All at Planet Swans would like to wish his family and friends our sincerest condolences at this time and would like the family to know his work did not go unnoticed,he will be greatly missed.

Razorjack: “Rip Met him a number of times.A real true gent.”

Chiswich jack: “Very sad news indeed.I had the honour of meeting "The Major" when he visited Olchfa. In 1990 (shortly after we played Liverpool in the FA Cup).He told me he played for Exeter City as well.A true gentleman”

Jackthelad43: “Think I'm right in saying he used to take the hospitality groups around the Vetch before games. He had some great stories and was a real gent. RIP.”

Henleyjack: “Sorry to hear about Reg's passing on- he was a true supporter of the Swans. Met him a few times, and he was always the perfect gentleman. Pity we coudn't make it to the Premiership for him - would have been a fitting tribute. “

Joe_Bradshaw: “My son wrote to the club asking for some general information on the Swans for a school project. This was when my son was about 7 (18 years ago).

Reg replied and sent so much memorabilia and information that the postage must have cost a bit on its own and cemented my son's relationship with the club for ever.Typical of the man who I was subsequently lucky enough to meet. “

DunvantJack: “A true Swansea City Gent.RIP”

Captainzog: “When I was an apprentice with BT, Reg was my boss. He was always referred to as "The Major" Pike, which was his rank in the TA. Sad to know he's gone. “

Darren: “Absolute legend, when I sat by the tunnel down the Vetch he'd tell us stories nearly every game, bit like Uncle Albert.
RIP Reg you shall be missed. “

Rob: “I knew Reg quite well, very, very sad to hear the news. Legend is used far to frequently these day's but he really was a true Swansea City legend. We should never forget what he did for the club and for his country during the war. “
