And then there were five... Scully sealed as Pompey market moves continue

There have been past Junes when Pompey have done very little in the transfer market - at least in terms of getting new faces signed.

But June 2023 is proving very different - less than a week after the summer transfer window opened, they have already completed five purchases.

Earlier in the week striker Christian Saydee, keeper Will Norris, defender Connor Shaughnessy and attacking midfielder Terry Devlin were signed.

Now Wigan winger Anthony Scully - recruited for an undisclosed fee - is the latest through the door. The 24-year-old former Replublic of Ireland U21 international has signed a two-year deal, with an option of a further 12 months.

Boss John Mousinho told the club website: 'He’s a player with real experience of this level after enjoying a successful spell with Lincoln. He made a massive contribution in terms of goals and assists, which followed on from being one of the outstanding players for West Ham’s under-21 side.

'So it’s a really exciting signing for us to make and we’ve got someone who can hopefully make a huge impact here.'

Mousinho is delighted with Pompey's recruitment so far. 'We’re pleased with the transfer activity we’ve been able to do so far this summer, working with Rich and the recruitment team,' he said.

'A lot of these moves have been many months in the making and so it’s great to see all that hard work coming to fruition.'
